I seem to be getting a glut of messages in my inbox lately that go like this:

[In an annoying, nasal tone of voice:]

"Oh hai [insert name here], I LOOOOOVE your wooo-oooooork! I'm suuuuch a faaaa-aaan! I would be sooo honoured if you would sign up to my website... let me just tell you how to get to it! Gee, thanks, bye! I toootally haven't copied and pasted this message into a whole bunch of messages and I'm suuuure it's only a mistake that I've never looked at your page and don't appear in your watchers list!

Love, [Random spammer]."

Listen, to any potential spammers out there: maybe your site is actually some good. The way to sell it to me is not to try and ingratiate yourself with paper-thin compliments. Tell me what I need to know about the site. What is it? Why is it different to dA? Why is it worth my time?

What you are actually doing is being incredibly condescending and insulting my intelligence. I have wasted far more time writing out this pompous blog post than it would take to actually copy and paste the link into my browser and look at your website.
